Frequently Asked Questions
About Wooly
What is Wooly?
Wooly is a fast, mess-free hair colour built for everyday people who want to cover greys without the salon ritual. One 180ml bottle, a 5-minute application, and you're done — no bowl, no brush, no mixing.
How is Wooly different from regular hair dye?
Regular dyes usually mean mixing two components, waiting 30–45 minutes, and cleaning up a mess. Wooly is a single ready-to-use formula that colours in about 5 minutes with nothing extra to mix or wash off your tools. It's designed to fit into a normal morning, not a weekend plan.
Is Wooly permanent or temporary?
Wooly is a long-lasting wash-based colour — it isn't a one-rinse temporary spray, and it isn't a harsh permanent chemical dye. The colour holds through your regular washes and gradually fades, so regrowth and greys blend in instead of showing a hard line.
What shades are available?
Natural Black is live and shipping now. Dark Brown is coming soon — if you'd like to be told the moment it launches, email us at support@mywooly.in.
How many washes does it last?
Each application holds up to 20 washes before you'll want to refresh it. The exact number depends on how often you wash and the products you use.
How many applications do I get per bottle?
One 180ml bottle covers multiple applications. How many you get depends on your hair length and how much grey you're covering — short hair and beards will stretch a bottle considerably further than long, full-head colouring.
Using Wooly
How do I use Wooly?
Apply Wooly directly to dry hair, work it through evenly, leave it for about 5 minutes, then rinse. That's the whole routine — no mixing and no waiting around.
Do I need a bowl, brush, or gloves?
No bowl, no brush, no mixing. Just apply like a shampoo. We recommend wearing thin gloves while applying to avoid staining your hands — one pair is enough. Rinse off in 5 minutes.
Can I use Wooly on my beard and moustache?
Yes. Wooly works well on beards and moustaches. Apply carefully, keep it off the surrounding skin where you can, and rinse after about 5 minutes.
Will it cover temple greys?
Yes — temple greys and stubborn grey patches are exactly what Wooly is made for. Make sure those areas are fully coated during application for even coverage.
Can I use Wooly on chemically treated hair?
Yes, Wooly is generally suitable for chemically treated, coloured, or straightened hair. If your hair has had a recent or intensive chemical treatment, do a patch test first and wait a little before colouring.
Safety
Is Wooly ammonia-free?
Yes. Wooly is formulated without ammonia, so there's no harsh smell and far less stress on your hair.
Is Wooly PPD-free?
Yes. Wooly is made without PPD (para-phenylenediamine), one of the most common triggers for dye-related reactions.
Will it stain my skin or hands?
Wooly is designed to colour hair, not skin, and any incidental marks on the skin or hands generally wash off with regular cleansing. Wipe off accidental contact promptly for the cleanest result.
Can it cause scalp irritation?
Wooly is ammonia-free and PPD-free to keep irritation to a minimum, and most people use it comfortably. If you have sensitive skin or a history of reactions, do a patch test first and stop use if any irritation appears.
Should I do a patch test?
Yes — we recommend a patch test before your first use. Apply a small amount to your inner forearm or behind the ear, wait 24–48 hours, and proceed only if there's no redness, itching, or irritation.
Can pregnant women use Wooly?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before using any hair colour, including Wooly. We'd rather you check with a professional who knows your situation.
